Most freight is powered by diesel engines.  While these diesel engines play a big role in moving goods and supporting our economy, they also produce emissions hazardous to human health and the environment. Freight is a major source of emissions, accounting for 27% of all NOx emissions and 1/3 of PM10 emissions from mobile sources in the United States.
