Clean Ports Program Awards
Clean Ports Awards Announced
On October 29, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced the selection of 55 applicants across 27 states and territories to receive nearly $3 billion through EPA’s Clean Ports Program. These grants will support the deployment of zero-emission equipment, as well as infrastructure and climate and air quality planning projects at ports across the country. The grants are funded by President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act — the largest investment in combating climate change and promoting clean energy in history— and will advance environmental justice by reducing diesel air pollution in U.S. ports and surrounding communities while promoting good-paying and union jobs that help America’s ports thrive.

This webinar provided a discussion with utilities and charging experts on the planning process for charging infrastructure. The webinar discussed: how one gets started with planning the installation for charging infrastructure, what planning is needed to account for demand charging, as well as how to estimate one's charging needs and what will work best for you and your fleet.

Clean Cities Georgia and STRIDE Present: Overview of CSB Grants and Resources
This webinar provided an overview of the Clean School Bus Grant Program. In addition, attendees heard about the many excellent resources that are out there. This included a presentation from Clean Cities Georgia covering the assistance and expertise that your local Clean Cities Coalition can provide. The webinar also discussed the many excellent technical resources available from the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation.

This webinar provided an overview of Clean School Bus Technologies. OEMs discussed the pros and cons to a variety of technologies and what considerations need to be made to ensure that you select the right bus for your specific needs. The webinar included discussions about the experiences of fleets who have adopted these technologies, how these technologies have performed in the field, and what to consider as you begin your planning.

STRIDE Electric School Bus Webinar Series: Electric School Buses and Total Cost of Ownership
During this webinar, Hillsborough County Schools and Argonne discussed cost analyses for school bus electrification and how electrifying can save fleets money. Jim Beekman of Hillsborough County Schools discussed a Total Cost of Ownership analysis performed for the district going over both the process of putting together a TCO analysis and the results. Andy Burnham of Argonne National Laboratory next went over an analysis using the AFLEET tool to demonstrate how school bus fleets can use the tool to calculate emission reductions and cost savings. Together these speakers discussed how school bus fleets can save green by going green and electrifying their fleets.

During this webinar, the Ft. Payne City School System provided lessons learned from their experience adding electric school buses to their fleet. A maintenance technician and bus driver provided insights into actual day to day operational experience with electric school buses. Attendees also learned from a utility provider about how easily electric buses and charging stations can be integrated into your fleet. Together these speakers provided practical information and the considerations needed to easily and efficiently incorporate these cost-reducing and clean buses into your existing fleet.
