Holmes Company is a premier flatbed and specialized carrier in the transportation industry, operating a fleet of 100 late model tractor power units and over 200 trailers transporting steel and building materials, including over-dimensional freight throughout the 48 continental states. With their largest customer located in the Gulf Coast Region and South Alabama, Holmes Company’s fleet of Class 8 Heavy Duty Tractors puts in a significant number of miles in the entire Region 4 area.

During 2013, they completed work to equip 10 of their units with Arctic Breeze AC Units which will significantly reduce their emissions. In 2011 and 2012, 8 units were equipped with the Arctic Breeze AC units. Holmes Company did receive some clean diesel funding in 2012 from Mississippi DEQ to help with their endeavors, however, when additional funding was not secured in 2011 and 2013, they moved forward with the project regardless. As a result of their efforts, the diesel emissions rate for the Holmes Company fleet has been reduced by 13.9%. By changing the way drivers heat and cool their cabs, they are also improving their quality of life on a daily basis as well as the environment in which they operate.
